More Before and After Furniture

Here's a little side table that I picked up
at one of my favorite consignment stores.
I think the color looks fresh and clean.
This is the after picture.

Here's the before.
Kinda a sad looking little table.

After I painted it I distressed it a little.
Here's a close up.

It would look good in a lot of different places.
Quite a difference from the before.

Here's another piece I think is so cute.
I got it at the same shop.
It's actually a homemade stool.
I did it in the same fresh color with a stained top.

Here's the before.

Here's a close up picture of the stained top.

And another picture of the after.
It could be used as a side table
or to sit on.

For from Him and through Him
and to Him are all things.
To Him be the glory forever.
Amen.

The Perfect EGG

What is more perfect then the egg.
This is a collection from my hens.
One from each one.

This is especially special to me because it contains
one of Penny's eggs. May she rest in peace.

What could be a more perfect example of one of
 God's creation.
May you all have a happy and
very Blessed Easter.

He said to him,
Love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the greatest and most important commandment.

A Happy and Brighter Dining Room

I wanted to brighten up my dining room
for spring and summer.
After a while I get really tired of the dark leather look.
So I decided to make a colorful cover that snaps at the bottom.
This makes them easy to put on and remove.
I went to my favorite fabric store, 1502
and found some happy colorful outdoor fabric.
Here's the room before.

Another view.

Here I am.
Brighten me up!

Here's the after.
Much better.
Much brighter.

Much happier!

Don't I look fantastic?

Happy Spring!

for the Lord,
the Lord, is the Rock eternal.

R.I.P. my PENNY

Today is a sad day.
I went out to the chickens this morning to open the coop door.
Everyone came out as usual, running and hiding from Slippers
(he likes to jump all the girls in the morning if you know what I mean).
Out of the corner of my eye I noticed something on the coop floor
and it was Penny. She was dead.
She seemed fine yesterday. She even laid her beautiful egg.
When I checked on them last night she was on the roost trying to sleep.
Everything looked fine.
If anyone has any ideas on her cause of death please let me know.
She was only 9 months old.

Isn't she beautiful.

Rest In Peace my beautiful bird.

To everything there is a Season, and a time
to every purpose under the heaven.

The Chicks at 3 weeks old.

Well the girls are three weeks old.
My how time flies.
Here's the group shot of Nugget, Dolly and Sunflower.

This is Nugget.
With Cocoa in the background.

Another one of Nugget.

Here's Dolly.

Where is everybody?

This is Sunflower.

Isn't she beautiful!
She's a talker.

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us,
that we should be called children of God...

Bouffant hatches some eggs!

Well about 5 weeks ago, Bouffant decided she wanted to be a mama.
So she went broody.
I tried for a week to change her mind, but that wasn't happening.
So I decided to let nature take over.

She wasn't sitting on any eggs. She was just sitting.
So I added a collection from everyone under her.
I didn't think she would mind.
I actually added more eggs than there are in the picture.

So for three weeks she sat and she sat.
She was such a good mom to be.
Then finally on day 21 the hatching started.
Here's a picture of one of the first.

Although she had nine eggs under her only three hatched.
Here they are at one day old.

Meet "Sunflower".
You can still see her egg tooth.
She's one day old in this picture.

Here she is at one week old.
She's starting to get some tail feathers.
Isn't she cute.

Going by the shells that were hatched
Sunflower's mama is Sadie.

Her daddy is Biscuit.

This is Dolly.
She's one day old here.

Here she is at one week old.
Look how she's grown.

Her mama is Copper.

And her daddy is Slippers.

Our third little chick is Nugget.
She's one day old in this picture.

Here she is at one week old.
If you notice they all have feathers on their feet.
Both dad's are Bantams which have feathered feet.

Once again Sadie is the mom.

And once again Biscuit is the papa.

It's kinda sad that none of Bouffant's eggs hatched.
She tried so hard.
I'm sure that this won't be the last time that Bouffant goes broody.
We'll just have to wait and see.
You might have notice that I'm calling them all girls.
That's wishful thinking because I won't know for sure until about
nine or ten weeks when somebody might crow.
Let's just hope they all turn out to be girls.

But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.

Spring around the house.

Thought I'd share a few spring ideas I have around my house.
This is a hutch my father made me years ago.
It originally had glass doors which I removed quite a while back.
And until recently it was all wood finished.
Wood, wood, wood. I don't know about you, but I get tired of so much wood.
So I decided to add a little color to the back.
I removed everything I'd had previously and replaced it with
less things and more seasonal items.

These are rabbit plates that I got at Goodwill years ago for a song.
And the rabbits I got at Hobby Lobby many years ago.
As you can tell I keep things for a long time.

A close up of Miss Rabbit.

This vase was one I bought long ago and gave to my mom for Easter.
Not long ago she gave it back to me.
I always loved that vase.

Here's a little set-up I put on a small table
that I'd bought at a thrift store and did a crackle finish on.
I love birds.

This is my spring mantel.
I told you I loved birds!

A close up.

This is an Easter wreath I made about 30 years ago.
I got some grapevine from the woods and made a
couple of circles to form a ring.
Then I made a bunch of bunnies and eggs from scrapes
of material and different trims.
I then attached them to the wreath and added Easter grass in between.
I have to say I think it's held up quite well over the years.

Here's a little close up.

Hope you enjoyed a little spring time from my house.
Happy Spring everyone!

See! The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.
Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come...
