From Kitchen Peninsula to a Buffet

For you viewing pleasure,
I thought I'd repost a change we did a while back.
Enjoy.

Years ago this was our kitchen.
Stained cabinets (which my father made) with a peninsula.

Over the years I changed the doors, added wallpaper,

and painted the cabinets.
This really brighten it up but I still wanted a more opened space soooo...
 We chopped off the peninsula!
 I even painted my countertops.

Finally we got granite countertops. Looove them!
I also took the doors off of my cabinets.
I did this even before it was popular!
I love the cabinets without the doors.

Another view without the peninsula.
Want to know what we did with the part we took off?

I turned it into an island.
I used it in the kitchen for many years. Of course it was many colors.
But this was the only picture I could find of one of the makeovers. It gave us lots of storage.
But if you know me you know I like to change things around.

Finally it has become a buffet/sideboard in our dining room.
I added a piece across the back with some filigree for interest.
I added bamboo molding around the doors and drawers and bought new hardware.
Of course I painted it a different color. I also added stair spindles on the sides at the front.
It's a great accent piece and still very useful.
It works great for serving buffet style at family dinners and parties.

We call it the Gecko!
It's a fun piece.

the Beginning and the End."

My First Egg

Finally we have an egg in the hen house.
Isn't it beautiful!
I know, I sound crazy. But I've been waiting for this egg for 5 months.

It was laid by Copper. A red sex-link chicken.
She's beautiful also don't you think!

Another Rooster

Guess which hen turned into a rooster?
It's my little bantam, Slippers.

Our other rooster, Biscuit starting crowing at 10 weeks.
Slippers is almost 20 weeks and has just recently started
(or should I say trying) to crow.
He's really pitiful.
Here he is as a little baby.

Now he's all grown up and strutting his stuff.
