OUR NEW ADDITION TO THE FAMILY

After Molly died October 2nd. we knew we would get another outside dog.
We just didn't know it would be this soon.
So after I started researching the type dog we wanted I came upon
some puppies that would be ready very soon. So we went ahead and picked her out.
So here she is.
Meet MAGGIE.
She's a golden retriever/yellow lab mix.
She's five weeks old in this picture.

She weighs 5 pounds.
Isn't she adorable!

She really knows how to sleep.

I didn't remember how much a puppy sleeps.

And boy do they chew.
 Everything!

She's found my pocketbook strap.
Tasty!

Her favorite buddy is Zippy the monkey.

We took her to Florida the week we got her.
She did so good. Loves to travel.
She also loved her orange juice from the Florida welcome center.
Who doesn't..

I've not tried to house break a puppy in 14 yrs.
Not since Tilly.
Boy is that a lot of work and commitment.
I'm also crate training her.
You really have to stay on a schedule with that.
So far it's going well, but exhausting.
Here she is at 8 weeks old.
And 10 pounds. Boy is she growing.

She really enjoys eating leaves.
Yum!

As you can see, she's very photogenic.
I think she's quite beautiful.

Stay tuned for more of her growing life.

MAKING A LAMP OUT OF A GLASS VASE

This was once an ordinary large vase.
After a little work it became a very versatile lamp.
Especially for seasonal decorating.

I started with an ordinary large vase.
I forgot to take a picture of the vase so I found this image.

You need lamp parts, which you can get at Lowes and
also a wooden square to fit the bottom of the vase.

I already had odds and ends of lamp parts
which were different finishes so
I spray painted everything silver including the wooden square.

I then attached everything to the wooden square
and epoxy it all to the bottom of the vase.

This is it clear and empty.

I eventually put a white shade on it
and in this photo it's filled with a little birdhouse.
Those are some good looking cords aren't they. Sorry.

Here I've filled it full of pumpkins for fall.
One of my favorite things to fill it with.
Isn't it pretty.

This one is filled with a small piece of pottery
that I filled with painted twigs and a little bird.
This is a great one to use for spring and summer.

And finally filled with Christmas balls
for the Christmas Holiday season.
Sometime I use multi colored balls,
but this year I used silver and blue.

Hope you have fun making one too.
