before and after painted desk

This is a desk that I picked up at a consignment shop.

Although it looked good as plain wood, you know me, I had to paint it.

Before....

After.

I painted it white to replace a table behind my couch that I used to put my lap top on.

The great thing about this desk is it has lots of storage so I can keep the top neat and tidy.

A chicken story

I've been wanting to raise some chickens for some time now.

Recently my uncle, who has chickens, gave me a dozen eggs to try and hatch.

I borrowed an incubator from my cousin and started on my chicken journey.
I placed the eggs inside.

I put the top on, and started cooking.
It was to take 21 days.

And on day 20 they started to hatch.

I made a video of the first one hatching.
It's rather long, about 7 min. but it's worth watching.
It was shot through glass so it's a bit fuzzy but you can still see what's happening.
It's amazing to watch.

And here is the first little chick.

It looks kind of pitiful doesn't it.

And here is my little flock.
Ended up that we had only four to hatch.
The one in the center is one I bought at the feed store.
It's a black silky bantam.
They are three days old here.
Stayed tuned for more on the chickens.......

Pray for Tilly

My little Tilly is sick.
Please pray for her.

Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
Psalm 55:17

I believe in the power of prayer.
His Will be done.

OLD GLORY FROM AN OLD PICKET FENCE

Thought I'd do another project to recycle our old picket fence.
In honor of the holidays, such as Memorial Day, July 4th, Veterans Day and Flag day
I decided to make a flag.

Here are the pickets before...

And here they are after.
The flag measures 41 inches by 18 inches.
It's made to hang or lean.
It's also been treated for outdoor use.

The power of paint

Among the many things to do on my spring list,
repainting the rocking chairs on the play house porch was near the top.
As you can see they desperately needed a paint job.

After scraping, sanding and needed preparation was done.....

This was the final result.

Turquoise is such a happy color.
They look almost new.

Another job I can check off my list!

Rejoice always!

Piano keyboard made into a table

From this old piano I'm trying to recreate as many things as possible.
My first creation was a kitchen island made from the decorative front panel on the piano.
To view the island, see the older post.

This time I'm making a table using the old keyboard.
Here's the piano before anything was taken apart.

Here's the piano during the recycling of its parts.

Take a look at this keyboard.
Looks like bad teeth!

After a lot, and I mean a lot of cleaning, scraping, bleaching, and more cleaning
it finally looks like this.
It was missing one key cover. I decided not to replace it.

These were some table legs that my dad had in his shop that we recycled.

I designed the style of the table and my dad made it for me.
We used trees from our property that had been cut and made into boards and old table legs that we recycled as I mentioned before.
Here it is unpainted.

I decided to paint it a high gloss black to complement the piano keys.

Here the decorative trim has been added.

Everything has been painted, and the keyboard has been inserted.

Here it is finished with the glass on top

Another pic.

And another.

Looks really good doesn't it.
I had planned on selling it but decided against it because it has a lot of memories and sentimental value to it.
Hope you like it.

Whom do I have in heaven but you?
And I desire nothing on earth but You.
Psalm 73:25
