The First Green Egg

We finally had our first beautiful green egg a few days ago.

It will join the other beautiful brown eggs.

This is Copper.
She's the first of our egg layers.
Her eggs are a darker brown.

This is Blackberry and she lays a light brown egg.

Here's a look at the different color of eggs.
The top is the green layer, to the left is Copper's
and to the right is Blackberry's.

This is Sadie.
She's a green egg layer.

 And this is Bouffant.
She's also a green egg layer.
And for now I don't know which one is laying the green egg.
They are both the same age, over 6 months old.
I guess time will tell.

Looks like we can now have green eggs and ham.

Psalm 143:10
Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God.
May Your gracious Spirit lead me on level ground.

  1. Bouffant is aptly-named. :-) Believe it or not, I blew out the contents of our first green egg and still have the shell, 8 years later. Thank you for sharing this at the HomeAcre Hop; I hope you'll join us again this Thursday.

  2. I think Sadie is your green egg layer. Bouffant appears to be a Silkie (black skin, turquoise earlobes and all) and they lay small, cream-colored eggs. She'll likely be a good mother hen for you some day.

    1. Thank you for letting me know. It just so happens I found that out this afternoon when I found a very small cream colored egg in the nest along with the green one. Thanks for commenting.
