REPAINTING THE GREEN GECKO

When I posted a while back about the new top I put over the Gecko
that was made out of old pallet boards, you can read that here,  I hinted that I was thinking
of repainting the Gecko.
Well I usually do what I say, so here she is.
Let me introduce you to:
"The Blue Bird".

Here's what she looked like before.
If you'd like to read about the history of this piece of furniture
please read about that here.
I hope you enjoy its history.

I started off by sanding the finish on the green paint.
Just to make it a little rougher to catch the paint.

I then put two coats of Kilz over the old paint.

I painted it with two top coats of ultra white. Then I put a blue glaze over that,
that I mixed up to the shade I wanted.  I put two coats of the glaze
over the white. With each coat I wiped it down after applying to get the
look I was going for. I was wanting a blue jean look.

Here it is after I was satisfied with the color.
I applied two coats of clear polycrylic over the whole piece.

Here it is all finished.

I'm very happy with it.
It's actually a little darker than this picture shows.

Here's a close up.

And one last look.
It's all ready to host a big meal. :)

 Hope you enjoyed this post.
